The purpose of planning, building and maintaining streets, roads and other public areas is to create a well-flowing traffic network, and these activities are an essential part of the efficient society in Kajaani.
In 2020, the City of Kajaani managed almost 200 kilometres of streets and some 185 kilometres of pavements and pedestrian and bicycle ways.
