Environmental and waste management control

Kainuu Waste Management Joint Authority, Ekokymppi, is in charge of organising waste collection and guidance relating to it. Ekokymppi takes care of the waste management services and official duties legally belonging to the City of Kajaani and other municipalities in Kainuu. These services and duties are: 

• organising the waste management of residential and holiday properties 
• developing waste management 
• guidance and announcements. 

The municipal environmental protection authority is in charge of waste management control and the enforcement of the Waste Act.
