Multicultural early childhood education and care and pre-primary education
Early childhood education care and pre-primary education for multilingual children are part of general early childhood education and care services. In early childhood education and care and pre-school education, the importance of the child’s own mother tongue and culture, as well as learning the Finnish language, are taken into account. Finnish as a second language S2-teaching is carried out in everyday interaction situations and guided activities. An early childhood education plan is made for all children and learning plans for pre-primaryl education are made for preschoolers. The teaching of one’s own mother tongue is organized for pre-school children, as far as possible, in basic education groups.
