Municipal subsidy
The aim of the municipal subsidy is to encourage companies to hire partially disabled and long-term unemployed people. It can be paid to companies, organisations, associations and foundations. It is a discretionary subsidy that must be applied for before hiring a person that fits the above description. The subsidies paid in total (including pay subsidy and the municipal subsidy) must not exceed the total wages. The municipal subsidy is granted as de minimis aid.
The municipal subsidy is €400 per month at most and can be paid for a maximum period of 8 months (subsidy cap of €3,200). In the case of an apprenticeship involving vocational studies (vocational upper secondary education and training, or continuing education) it is €200 per month at most for a period of 1 year and €100 per month for a period of 2 or 3 years (subsidy cap of €4,800).
The condition for the subsidy is that the person employed is paid wages in line with the collective agreement of the sector in question and that they work for at least 18 hours a week.
What is its purpose?
The municipal subsidy is intended for the acquisition costs involved in hiring the person in question that relate to the workspace, work clothes, orientation and supervision, as well as to acquiring the necessary permits to perform the duties.
Who is it for?
A Kainuu-based employer who hires a long-term unemployed person living in Kajaani. The employer is required to provide active guidance and support to the person being employed and to teach them the duties involved.
Employment subsidies for the City’s partner associations
An association with offices in Kajaani or an association whose regular operations take place in Kajaani can apply for an employment subsidy. The activity being subsidised must promote the employment of a Kajaani-based long-term unemployed person and strengthen their competence. A particular focus is the prevention of the marginalisation of young people and supporting them in finding work and training or education.
The application period for the City of Kajaani’s employment subsidy will be announced on this website. Filling in the application requires strong electronic identification. Subsidies are granted once a year.
